It’s that time of year – when we overeat and get sick. During November, we tweeted the following tips on Twitter to remind you to wash your hands, watch food portions and find healthy snack alternatives — all essential for staying on top of your physical health. References for these tips are shown at the end of this post.

As cold and flu season approaches, wash your hands often – scrub hard for 20 seconds or more.

Watch your portions of healthy food – nuts, avocados, whole wheat pasta and dark chocolate still have calories.

Stop lollygagging at the gym – limit water breaks, socializing, texting – stay focused on your workout.

At holiday gatherings, replace chips and sweets with a handful of nuts.

While hand sanitizers work, washing hands with soap and water is preferred to stop infection from spreading.
